Last year, when we made the decision to move, one of my must haves in a new home was a big front porch. Well friends, I got it!
Not only is it long, it is deep too! And, I love it! Now that we have been here a full year, it was time for me to take my decorating outside and set up some Fall porch decorations.
Nothing too over the top. The metal gate piece behind the scarecrow is from under the back deck. The previous owners had a dog that they kept contained under there. You all know, no one contains our Max, so he was okay with me using it in my porch vignette.
Everything else came from Michael's. I bought them over the course of several weeks to take advantage of sales and coupons. That plan really helped to keep the decor on the cheap.
The mums here are fake but...
The ones in the railing boxes are real.
Lowes had them at buy 1 get 1 free, making them so affordable! I left them in their pots so that in a few weeks I can plant a few in the ground to come back next year. I used some summer annuals that had survived the heat we've had the past few weeks as filler and thriller.
The beautiful colors of Fall!
Having this front porch to decorate is like having a whole other room! In just a few weeks, it will be transformed again, for Halloween! And! I already have BIG plans for Christmas!!
Like what you see?

It looks wonderful, Kathe! It reminds me a lot of my parents' porch, and I am jealous of it! I have a stoop, which is awesome for pumpkins and flower pots, but I'd love to be able do more.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a big porch to decorate for the seasons - we have a 3x5 entryway that's very hard to do anything with. Love your scarecrow and the gate. Cathy
ReplyDeleteFun! I wish I had a big 'ole porch to decorate!
ReplyDeleteNice, Kathe!! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I wish I had a front porch to decorate. I didn't know that mums would come back every year. I may have to get some! I don't have a green thumb so anything that will just come back on its own is ok by me!
ReplyDeleteKathe, the porch looks great! Love the flowers. I bought a couple of little yellow mums today! They just make me smile. I wish I had a porch to decorate, but since I don't I'll just enjoy yours! I used a Michael's coupon the other day, it really does help keep the costs down!

I got a BIG front yard to decorate in my move. I don't even have to worry about yard art thieves out here!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful. I do have 2 verandas in the front but no real porch to set anything, although I am hoping to have time to decorate some this fall..
ReplyDeleteI love your cute scarecrow, your porch looks great! I saw this on Pinterest and pinned it right away!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteLove it all!!! I can imagine that you are having a blast with that nice big porch!
ReplyDeleteWait - my comment disappeared -- I said I love this and love that it's a non-stressful way to decorate and kid-friendly. :) I hope it shows up!
ReplyDeleteWe moved from a house with a big front porch a few years ago, to a lakehouse, with a small patio...traded the porch for the amazing view. It was fun decorating the porch each season with neat things. Your fall decor is simple, but very effective. Nice use of the old gate!!

Lucky, lucky, lucky!!!!!! We don't have a "real" front porch, and it drives me crazy. I guess it's my own fault. I fell in love with the rest of the house, and not having a porch didn't seem to matter at the time. I know you are having a ball planning out all the wonderful things to do with yours!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you used that small gate in this vignette!
Thanks for coming and linking up at #The Weekend Social. Please be sure to come back next week starting Thursdays at 9PM EST on KitchenDreaming.com ! I hope to see you there!
ReplyDeleteI love the wooden boxes you used to highlight your fall displays - they add so much character to the overall look. The iron gate piece add a great touch too.
ReplyDeleteLovely porch!
ReplyDeleteI love your porch decor, Kathe. It's still pretty warm out here, and I love the idea of using fake mums -- I'll have to try that! :)
ReplyDeleteYour so right Kathe its such an extra fun staging area yay love your fall look.
