I am still keeping my inner pledge to keep any of my decor simple and understated. Not to say it's been easy. I do have to rein it in every now and then.
Just a few loved items make up the mantel for the Fall season.
You may remember this pretty pumpkin from my post last week. The copper owl was a gift from my dear MIL.
In the center, under the clock, a small ceramic white pumpkin sits in a pile of leaves.
You can't tell but it is cradled in a beautiful faux candlewick candy dish that was a housewarming gift from my dear blogging friend, Barbara.
I have been wanting a basket to put near the fireplace to hold blankets and throws in the colder months. When I saw this one, on clearance, at Michael's I knew it was perfect! A few seasonal gourds, ceramic acorns and ears of colorful corn atop a fall throw, makes the hearth feel even warmer and cozier.
Another faux pumpkin and a tall metal urn are all that was needed for the right side of the fireplace.
I added the banner I made several years ago across the front and called it done.
Are you ready for Fall? Have you started to decorate yet?
Wow I love those niches above fireplaces that are all smooth like stucco! Such a great fall mantle. I need to make one of those banners one of these days!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovley and Autumn-y! I am totally impressed with the "holding yourself back" part! Good job!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks quite nice, very Autumny. You did great job holding back, know the feeling. I asked hubs to get my fall box out yesterday and he went into a fit about it's still summer and not fall and not ready to see all that "crap" out all over. Sheesh, think I got the message. That's about only thing I've done except put couple things up on our shutter shelf (faux mantel). Haven't been ready to do the Fall stuff yet but had no idea he had such strong feelings about my decorating.
ReplyDeleteI love that niche above your fireplace, perfect for decorating any season, any reason. You did lovely job putting things up there without getting carried away. ( guess that's what hubs was trying to tell me?)
Looks so good. Love the pumpkins and the owls! Also the white pumpkins on the hearth are perfect. That throw is cute!! You are doing well in keeping it simpler. :)

Hi Kathe- this looks perfect! I'm with you on keeping it simple. Looks like you found a very nice throw and I like the pumpkins on top!
ReplyDeleteYour vignette in the niche is fabulous. I love the copper owls. Thank you for bringing fall to Make It Monday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kathe! I don't typically decorate for fall until October. I still try to squeeze everything I can out of summer in September. I love that basket with the blankets. So cozy!
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving the creamy white pumpkins and gourds, but at the same time, I love your cinnamon colored candles and the owls. Very fun vignette!!

It all looks beautiful Kathe - but I'm stuck on the sentence that says SNOW -
ReplyDeleteDear God - it's too soon?
It snowed in Calgary last week too - and THIS is why I don't like Fall lol
We're supposed to have a warm week here in Montreal - my fingers are crossed.
Did I mention I love your mantel? ( it's all about me, see? )
xoxo
I'm crazy about mantles and all the vignettes that can be done on them. Crazy as it is, 3 of our fireplaces either don't have a mantle or one that is too narrow to do much with. Out of frustration, I put a 2x12 rustic piece of wood over the fourth one so I, too, can decorate a mantle!
