I know I really should
be doing some sort of summer
tablescape but,
this one has been rattling around in my
imagination for too long
and it was time
to un-clutter the brain!No tablecloth.
I wanted the wood of the
dining table to be shown.
I found the checked placemats
at Burlington Coat Factory, on sale,
at the first of the year.
I then layered my favorite Ikea
oversized plates, black dinner plates
from The Dollar Tree
square salad bowls
that again, I've had forever.
The black flatware is from Family Dollar.
A full set for $3.50!
The black goblets are a recent score
from The Dollar Tree too.
4 for $1.00!
The napkin rings were a clearance score
at Home Goods at $3.50 for all four.
For the centerpiece
I used some glass tiles
left by the previous homeowner.
Next came 3 clear vases from Ikea
filled with Christmas fluff from my stash
and black mums from Michael's.
vase followed by thin black ribbon.
I purchased the candlesticks
at Goodwill for $1.00 each
several years ago.
Spray painted black
with white candles,
they are perfect for this table!
Now that this table is
finally done,
I think I may have
some room available in my old noggin now
to put together a summer table...
before it's no longer summer!
I always share my tablescapes with
Kathleen at Let's Dish at Cuisine Kathleen
and
Marty at A Stroll Thru Life Table Top TuesdayClick here to see where else I may be partying this week.
AND
Don't forget to come by on Tuesday's
for my link party.

When we move and have more storage, I am getting some! Oh I also love black and white. When I win the lotto I am getting a complete Mackenzie Childs Courtly Check set! Keep up the great work Mrs. Kathe!
ReplyDeleteThis is very elegant, Kathe. I am visiting from Let's Dish. I am now also following you. I also want to run over to my nearest Dollar Tree and look for those black glasses. xo

Wow I love it. The Dollar Store and the Dollar Tree are two of my favorite stores any more. Anything you might need you can find these days.
ReplyDeleteQMM
This is one of my favorites from you and a nice change from all the summer tables! I love checks and love black and white too! I like how you took "country" checks and made them contemporary with that clever centerpiece and clean lines everywhere else.

Happy TS,

Kathe, a classic table that can be used year round. It's perfect for summer, cool and calm. Loved the ribbons around the vases.
ReplyDeleteDawna
Every single thing about your table contributes to the whole lovely picture. The big and little checks are good together, and napkin rings too.
ReplyDeleteVery creative centerpiece, Kathe! And no need to apologize for the color scheme...black & white is perfect all year round! I saw those same placemats at Burlington and almost bought them. They also had matching napkins and linens. I don't know (especially now that I see yours!) why I passed them up. Brain fart, I suppose. You sure did them great justice!
ReplyDeleteOoh! I like this!!! Love the layering of your back and white along with the checks!! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat is one slick looking table! Love the centerpieces!
ReplyDeleteLove black and white checks!
ReplyDeleteThe black and white tablescape is lovely. I love how you stuck to the colour scheme even for the centrepiece. Can you imagine how much a bouquet of bright pink flowers would show up with the rest of the table so restrained - it would be a fun way to play around with it.
ReplyDeletewhat a great look love it so very pretty and classy

Last weekend I went on a shopping spree that would make you soooooo jealous! I hit up the Oneida Silver clearance outlet and brought home stacks of brand new dishes for 29 and 49 cents! I bought two place settings in all black similar to your dishes (I find I have to keep trying harder to scare my fiance and black dinner wear seemed like a good step)
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of table setting! I can never get enough of black and white and the checks are wonderful. ~ Maureen
