Now that the weather is to the point that I want to be outside all that I can, I decided to play with the camera I received at Christmas and work on my photography skills. My camera is a Canon Rebel T3i. Prior to this camera, most of my photos came from my iPhone, so there has been a learning curve for me. My subjects were a cherry tree and a plum tree blooming in our backyard.
Your fruit trees are so pretty and your pictures are great! I just bought myself the very same camera and I LOVE it! I know what you mean about having a big learning curve. I've only used the auto setting and hope to learn how to use all the other settings some day. I hope you'll post more of the pictures you take with your new camera!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to have a good camera and just go out and take photos!! I am in need of a good photo shoot soon!! Love you pretty blooms!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
So pretty! Dare we believe that spring is really here?
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!!! I received the same camera from Santa two years ago and I LOVE it. Although, I'd like to take a class to learn how to use it. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures!! One of these days, I need to go take pictures for fun - it always seems to be for the blog! :)
ReplyDeleteWell yes. I DO Like what I see. I have a junky little point and shoot camera, but I still love to venture outside and take pictures of what I see. I love yours. It inspires me to get out there.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! I have so much fun taking pictures in my back yard, and I think I would be broke if it weren't for digital (hard to imagine we used to pay $20+ for every 36 shots!
ReplyDeleteThat was a day well spent! Love the pictures :) I am in market for a new DSLR and I will sure keep my options open.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful, Kathe! I have a DSLR but need to learn how to use it more efficiently. Thank you for sharing your trees with us!
ReplyDeleteI just finished taking classes and it made a tremendous impact on the quality of my images. It seems so daunting in the beginning; but once you understand manual, it's so easy! Your images are lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started I was practicing everyday but, lately I am lucky if I take a couple of pics a week and it's really showing in my results - yuck... I need to start doing the pic a day and practice my ability to get some great pics like you have here... Beautiful, Kathe
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos you took of the flowering trees. I hope you enjoy your new toy! Thanks to for the party. Enjoy the rest of the week and Happy Mother's Day!

Pretty! I've been practicing on our blossoming trees as well. I've been waiting for this time of year for awhile now. It's the best kind of practice - right in front of my house. Your pics look great!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun? Advise you to get 2 memory cards dedicated to blog fun. It is really aggrivating when you go out and discover you left your memory card in the computer during the last download!
ReplyDeleteI dont know if I'm more jealous of your new camera or of your beautiful fruit trees. :-) Nice pictures. You're doing a great job with depth of field.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures... I love when fruit trees are blooming. You are more then welcome to link this up to my almost Wordless Wednesday post.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you joined my Almost Wordless Wednesday and that it has brought your camera out.
DeleteI am finally learning how to get my fancy camera out of auto mode. Hooray for me! I need a photo shoot, but it's FREEZING today. Hopefully it will feel like summer soon!
ReplyDeleteWhen I got my DSLR, I watched a lot of YouTube videos. Have fun learning!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Kathe! I love how you hyper focus on certain elements and blur out the background. The images are so sharp. I only use my iPhone and a glorified point-and-shoot, so I'm continually impressed by other bloggers' photography. You're doing great! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Kathe! I had to go back and reread what kind of trees they were because I thought they were Dogwood. I am Nikon girl myself, but my husband's uncle is a hard core Canon guy. Every time we get together we have to compare/contrast our cameras. ;) Have fun with your new toy!
ReplyDeleteGreat job. I have a T3i and love it!
ReplyDeleteGood pictures! I picked up a DSLR a couple of years ago and couldn't be happier. You chose well!
ReplyDeleteEeeeeek!!! Kathe, you have the camera that I'm saving up to buy!!!
ReplyDeleteRight now I have a Canon point and shoot, and my iPhone. I am sooooo looking forward to the day I can open up a T3i box and call it mine. =0)
I really like photos of cherry tree blossoms. You had a great photo shoot!
Great photos, Kathe...I would love to learn more about my camera (Olympus) so my photos would be better.
ReplyDeleteHope your plum tree fared better than ours...the harsh winter killed the center of it...trying to decide if I want to prune it or just cut it down. It is sorry looking!
Have a wonderful weekend
Very pretty! I need to work on my photography skills. thank you for sharing your pretty pics with us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Kathe! I'm learning too... but spring flowers are probably my favourite thing to photograph (besides my kids of course!).
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing pictures. We have the exact same camera, I am also learning but I haven't actually tried getting off auto yet. Do you have any tips?
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely. I am researching for a new camera. Is yours wireless? I think I have a decent photo, but when I download it becomes obvious I should have taken more. :)

I have been saving this post until last. I am in the market for a new camera and am really interested in your experience with your new camera. The cherry and plum tree blossom pictures are very good. I like the crispness of the blossom and the softened background for this kind of picture. Keep us posted on your learning curve. It will be great to get an honest review on a product (as opposed to the paid for kind of review).
ReplyDeleteYour pictures look amazing! Pinned! Thanks again, for sharing at our party.

I just bought myself the Rebel t2i. How are you liking yours? I had a decent camera before...but this one is amazing. I still haven't figured it all out! Your branches are gorgeous! Great job! ~Tammy
