You may remember how I was able to set up my office at the previous house for free!
Well this time it wasn't done for free but, it was done
very inexpensively and I love it!
So, please c'mon in.
This room sits to the right of the front door. It has double glass doors that keep the room bright and open. A plus is that when I am working in here I don't feel closed off from the rest of the house. It is also a much larger room giving me more room to get my craft on!
One thing you may notice is the wall color.
In real life it is a pinkish lavender. The previous owners of the home did foster care and this room was used as a little girls bedroom. The first thing I did was take down all of the Tinker Bell/ Butterfly/ Princess stickers that covered every wall.
Not that there is anything wrong with Tinker Bell/ Butterfly/ Princess stickers, they just aren't my style.
I've just got to say, I love Ikea for office furniture! The 4x4 Expedit bookcase is one of Ikea's best sellers for a good reason in my opinion!
You will notice a couple of new pieces. We purchased two Malm 4-drawer dressers and put one on each side of the Expedit.
This room does not have a closet so, I desperately needed more storage and these deep drawers are the perfect answer!
On the right I have stored some decor items while the
left one holds my craft supplies.
I like the extra top surface space too for display or, to set my craft paper on as I work.
At the back of the office I have my craft table. Check out that sweet clock!
That was also a find at Ikea. Once we get the room painted a more neutral color I think the clock will really pop!
I kept my desk area pretty much the same as in the past house.
The nicest part is, I can sit here and be able to look out into the dining room whereas before, I had to turn to be able to see out a window.
It just feels so much more open and airy.
See what I mean? (oops, there's Max, heading to the kitchen LOL).
Oh and that secretary in the entry will be replaced with something shorter at some point.
With as bright as this room is, isn't it surprising that there is only one window? The window looks out to the front door.
The roller shade will be replaced with blinds,(update: blinds are now in!) hung using a level (I swear some people don't even try sometimes LOL).
Max has already come in and laid in his bed while I am working, which tells me, this room meets his high standards of comfort as it does mine!
So, there you have it, another room unpacked and set up!
A new room for me to escape to and get my creativity on!
Now, I seriously mean it when I say I am getting the Fall decor set out and I will be sharing that in the next post!
See you soon!
What a great space, Kathe! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it, Kathe! My office is pink too (except I did it on purpose!!)

ReplyDeleteOh, I really love it!
ReplyDeleteWill you come organize my room for me?! I am in the middle of trying to get it organized right now.. :)
ReplyDeleteYou got a real find in your new house. All that kitchen storage and now this! I have never seen such a neat office -- mine looks like a cyclone hit it.
ReplyDelete"... a much larger room..." you can say that again: it looks like a HUGE craft room that most of us would be jealous off... You are lucky!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking it up at the Fine Craft Guild. We've missed you for a while so we're glad you're back! See you next week!
This craft room makes me wish I had one more bedroom to set up like this!! My spare room is so full I'm not sure where I can get some crafts set up...oh well a challenge for sure. I do love the IKEA stuff so much!! Now get your fall out!! I'll be working on mine next week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great space Kathe! I am very jealous....er....so happy for you! LOL
ReplyDeleteLooks great. I love to see how people use the items from Ikea. I don't have one local and sometimes when I look at the catalogs, I love a piece, but can't figure out how to use them. This certainly does help. I share my craft room/office with my kids and we are working on some organization. You've given me some great ideas. I'm jealous of the clean top of your desk. Mine is piled high! I can't remember what the top looks like.
ReplyDeleteI love how big your room is ! I'm very very jealous!!! Mine could be a jail cell...lol I'am surprised by the clock though...... i think when i craft or do my artwork i don't want to be reminded of the time by a big clock...thats just me....... Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteVery nice!!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to start with a clean slate. I am so jealous in the very best way. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathe, it is gorgeous and I love it! You must be so happy and you have so much room to work in. Have fun! Have a great weekend.

What a wonderful room! I love all the storage you have and the open feel of your space. You will have a great time crafting in that room.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Patti
I'm so jealous! I don't have any space to call my own in our home. I'd love a lovely space like you have. I can see how you can be very creative in there!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty room. You've done a great job!
ReplyDeleteNice craftroom/office! I love all the cubbies, and you have everything set up so nicely! I am hoping to have my own craftroom someday!

ReplyDeleteHi Kathe, your new room really is lovely! I love the French doors and how bright and cheery it is. You will have many hours of creative fun in this space. I almost bought that same clock for my basement farmhouse kitchen. Loved it, but it was just a tad too big. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,

ReplyDeleteAn awesome room for you, K.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a good job...here we are, both fixing up one room at a time in our new homes. it just about WORE ME OUT, this moving thing...but am feeling better ea day and getting a lot done. We, too, will paint later but not right now.
I love it, Kathe ... especially the pinkylavender colour ... very charming. I'm in the process of setting up my new office and chose the 4 x 4 Expedit shelving, which I sat on top of a 2 x 4 Expedit unit. I just have to get it all anchored to the wall and then get busy filling it up. Your home is lovely and I'm *so* jealous of your hardwood floors! ;) Keep on crafting!
ReplyDeleteI so love it Kathe! I love every little detail. The cute boxes, the wall clock. I love it!
ReplyDeleteXOXO

Love this! I need to do something like this for our computer area. And my craft area. It looks so modern and clean looking. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour home office looks great Kathe! I like how everything is arranged. Definitely a very comfortable environment. Guess what?! My bird enthusiast eyes could not miss the picture of the cardinal!:) Such a beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
What a great space! I dream of the day when I can have my very own space. For now I have a little box in the living room that I move around where ever I go.
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvelous home office you have Kathe! I am delighted to share your post will be featured in this week's Home and Garden Thursday,
ReplyDeleteKathy
You did a great job! I'm envious of your special little space. I use our guest/play room as my office, but I can't really decorate it as an office because it has to have room for a pull out sofabed. Hope you find great inspiration in your new space.
ReplyDeleteLooks great and a lovely place to work. I am also a massive fan of the ikea expedit and have it in my office too. They just seem like the perfect storage solution!
ReplyDeleteTo construct the outdoor appearance decorative and more eye-catching Balinese furniture is reliable and suitable option. It makes the home's appearance special and different from other houses.
ReplyDeleteKathe, this looks fantastic. I'm just in the process of creating a crafting space and you've given me some inspiration. I don't have such a lovely room in the house like you though. You've done a fantastic job. I'm featuring this at tomorrow's Thriving on Thursday. Thanks so much for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteAnne xx

That's a great sized room, ikea is the best!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful space. I've been trying to figure out how to make my craft closet more like a craft office... and not so dark. It's a challenge for sure.
ReplyDeleteI have these same shelves....only in black.....and ironically, I posted a craft room re-do, too. Love myself some IKEA. Love your space. :)
ReplyDeleteYou really have a great space! So open and inviting! I feel like I could sit in there all day every day. Thanks so much for sharing on Turn It Up Tuesdays...we love having you! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful space, Kathe! I pretty much outfitted my entire craft-sewing room at IKEA. You just cannot beat their prices and the quality of their products. Have fun in your new space!
ReplyDeleteKathe thanks so much for sharing your craft room, what a great location in your house--so many newer homes have this exact "office" location. Mine is my "formal" office where I work my day job. My (future) craft room, however, will be in our basement off of the living area, but I'm excited because it's next to the utility sink, and that's perfect because I do so much painting. Look forward to featuring it on my blog this Sunday! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteKathe, I love your space. I wish I had a room down stairs to craft in. Sometimes I feel so far away from the rest of the house. (Which sometimes is not bad...lol)
