You're Gonna Love It Link Party Time

Welcome to the weekly You're Gonna Love It link party! We hope you had an awesome weekend and we are so glad you are here to party with us this week! Are you getting ready for the July 4th holiday?  Mr. B & I keep it pretty close to home each year and this year is no different.  We'll throw some grub on the 'que and take it easy.  We are lucky in that we can see almost all of the fireworks along the front range from our back deck so, no crowds to fight!

Let's get the party happening here! The party kicks off around 6 pm Mountain time each and every Monday. We love seeing what you have to share and get so much inspiration from what you link up!

Now, it's Time For
The Features of the Week
Behind The Seams Sewing had the most viewed link last week.
We learned how to alter a man's shirt to a woman's shape. I don't sew but I remember my mom taking my dad's shirts and making them to fit her so this project was kind of close to my heart.

My favorite for last week was the beautiful patriotic mantel from Bargain Decorating With Laurie.
I love how Laurie ties everything red, white & blue together around her fireplace mantel. So pretty!
If you have been featured here, or over at my super creative co-hort Kim's blog, (she has a different Pick of the Week so go check it out...was it you?) make sure to grab an I've Been Featured button here.

Just a reminder: IF you follow me on Facebook you get first notice of this party going live each week. Plus, I share some pretty funny and awesome stuff on my page over there too!

Now, who's  ready to party??

Feel free to link up anything you have created (recipes, decor, crafts, written or photographed). Anything you are so proud of you just gotta share it with others. We do ask that you please DO NOT link up giveaways, Etsy shops or anything for sale. Save those for the first Tuesday of each month when, Anything Goes!  We will reserve the option of deleting any post that we do not feel fits the theme of our blogs.

You can follow Kim and I on social media, but it is not required. (We want you to follow us because you want to, not because you have to.)

Upcycled Garage Sale Find

A few weeks ago our subdivision held its annual garage sale.  Since we didn't have anything to sell, my mother-in-law I drove around and hit a few to see what we could find. My favorite find was this vase with a ProFlowers tag on it.
Upcycled Garage Sale Find
I loved the "bubbled" look but not the color. For 50 cents I figured it worth buying and upcycling it into something more my style. I got out my white spray paint and my new spray paint station (an old box from the garage) and gave it a few coats.
Upcycled Garage Sale Find
I love how it now looks like a vintage hobnail vase!

I picked up some marked down flowers from the grocery store (I spent under $5.00 for a dozen beautiful red roses! Crazy right?) as well as a patriotic placemat and it sits so prettily on the dining room table for the upcoming July 4th holiday!

You're Gonna Love it Party~Hello To Summer

Welcome back to another fun week of linking up to You're Gonna Love It with Kim & I! I hope you all had a fun and warm first day of Summer/ Father's Day? We were hothothot here in Colorado but you know what? I ain't gonna complain one bit!  At least it wasn't raining! Maybe we can put all of that ugly Spring weather behind us and get to enjoy some time outdoors! In just a week or so we will be celebrating Independence Day so I say, let's start partying right now!

Now, it's Time For
The Features of the Week
The most viewed from last weeks party is from Kristyn who blogs over at Rust & Ruffles.
Kristyn showed us all of the steps needed to create a beautiful Faux Wood Floor for her front porch. OMG! Isn't this awesome?  I could see so many uses for this technique! You must head on over and visit her gorgeous blog!

My pick of the week is from This Cookin' Dad.
First, I love that he is a guy blogger and second, that he creates such yummy dishes like this Lemon Poblano Mac & Cheese! I cannot wait to spring this on Mr. B!  He is gonna love it! Make sure you stop by and follow this new-to-me blog soon!

If you have been featured here, or over at my super creative co-hort Kim's blog, (she has a different Pick of the Week so go check it out...was it you?) make sure to grab an I've Been Featured button here.

An Artist's Tablescape

When people ask why I enjoy setting tablescapes so much I tell them I am not artistic at all.  I truly can screw up a stick figure!  But, when it comes to setting a 'scape, I think of the table itself as my canvas. Coming up with ideas and themes allows my inner artist to come out in a different way than with paint and brushes. That is what this setting is that I share with you today. One of my masterpieces if you will.
The muse for this piece of art came from these melamine plates I recently found at World Market.
I am a big fan of Impressionism art and one of my favorites is Monet. When I saw these dishes I thought of one of his most famous pieces, 'Water Lilies'. Inspired by his own gardens, his paintings reflected the beauty he had created in real life.
I wanted the rustic wood of my table, aka canvas, to be evident so, no tablecloth was used. My mother-in-law had gifted me the placemats and they anchored the plates beautifully.
I picked up some small easels and canvas at Michael's and placed one at each setting.
While at Michael's, I also picked up some watercolor paints and brushes so that my guests could create their own works of art.
Wine goblets from Dollar Tree hold a towering cream napkin. I like the way the napkin flows through the glass, much like a swan on water.
Some markdown flowers from the grocery store were placed in a vase that Mr. B got me years ago.
How fitting for this table that it is called, Monet.
The flowers reflect the colors found in the plates.
I found this wonderful easel on deep clearance at Michael's.  It is actually a chalkboard but, I printed off a print of 'Water Lilies' from the internet and used glue dots to attach it inside the frame.

So, while I am not an artist in the traditional sense, and my work will never be displayed in some museum, I love creating works of art on my table to enjoy and to share with you.

Like what you see?

You're Gonna Love It Party~The Last One Of Spring 2015

I am sure some of you are thinking to yourselves, what is up with Kathe lately? I know, it's pretty obvious I am not posting any new content lately but, I do have a good reason.  As most of you know, I lost my job back in mid-December. I have been looking for a new job since day 1 but, around the end of April, I decided I was going to change careers. Yes, at my age I am switching tracks and, I am in the middle of studying to get my license to become a Colorado Real Estate agent!! Eeek! I am so stoked!  It is something I have wanted to do for some time now and it seemed like the door I needed to open, did!  I am over half way done with the courses and hope to take the test in a matter of weeks! Of course, the studying is eating into my creative time and is really my top priority right now.  I will be sharing some things with you I have been working on as soon as I can! I hope that you will stick with me while I trudge through this exciting change in my life. I may be MIA a bit but I am not going anywhere, promise!

Now, how about we party like we love to each week?

It's Time For
The Features of the Week
Dusty from To The Moon & Back shared some great tips for healing eczema breakouts in toddlers
As someone that personally dealt with eczema for many many years, I found her tips to be spot on, especially using the fragrance free detergent and eliminating wheat from my diet for a period of time. Truly, a must read!

My favorite of the week is from Joy at Yesterfood
I'll give you some time to wipe the drool off of your chin.  Seriously! Don't you just wanna bite into all three layers of these brownies? I was totally licking my monitor.

You're Gonna Love It Party Time!

Welcome dear friends to another week of You're Gonna Love It!  Kim & I love seeing all of the creativity you share each week! We are excited to announce a new feature around the first of the month party where Anything Goes. We have created a “featured business” award and we will be giving it out to an etsy shop each month.  We know not a lot of parties allow for business links and so we feel this is an awesome way for us to help to promote your business!

This week, we are pleased to be spotlighting the Homemade Soap N Such etsy shop.
Judy hand makes the most wonderful soaps using natural ingredients.  Judy & I have actually been blogging buddies for a few years now and, since I have received some of her soaps personally, I can honestly say, they are awesome! Be sure to head on over and see all that her shop has to offer!

Now, it's Time For
The Features of the Week
The most viewed came from Diane at Vintage Zest.
As the school years winds down, Diane round up some really great Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas! I am in love with the Ikat coasters and may just make them for myself!

My pick of the week comes via LuAnn from Lovely Livings
I just love when someone thinks outside of the box when it comes to decor and these beautiful roses set into a lantern are right there for me and I will be stealing this idea for sure!

Mars Veterinary Wisdom Panel 3.0 Canine Test Swab-AThon Tour

This post is sponsored by Wisdom Panel. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Wisdom Panel Canine DNA Test Swab-a-thon Tour . I only share information I feel is relevant to my readers. Wisdom Panel is not responsible for the content of this article.

If you have followed me for any length of time you know about Max, our Jack Russell Terrier.
Gah!  That face gets me every time!

Max came into our lives about 13 years ago when he was thought to be about 2 years old. He had been turned over to a shelter because his previous owner thought he was too aggressive.  We have never seen that side of him.  He has always been a fun, gentle little clown. He stole my heart the minute we met.
Oh he can be a handful at times but c'mon, he's a Jack Russell, we knew that when we decided to adopt him.  But once he winds down, he's a cuddling mess lol!

Now I say he's a Jack Russell Terrier but because he came from a shelter I don't actually know if he is a purebred or a mix. And if he is a mix, what is he mixed with? Max can't tell me what his genetic makeup is but, his DNA can! With millions of mixed-breed dog owners in the U.S., having access to reliable breed ancestry information can be critical for the nutrition, training and overall healthcare of our four-legged family member. Understanding the breeds that make up your dog enables much more targeted care and in some cases provides lifesaving information.  Why is it important to understand the genetic makeup of your dog and what is the benefit to using Wisdom Panel 3.0?

1. Screening for the MDR1 genetic mutation.

“Dogs with the MDR1-mutation may have severe adverse reactions to some common drugs, so it is important to test mixed-breed (and purebreds with the high-propensity breeds) dogs and for owners to share results with their veterinarian so they can provide the dog with for the best possible care.” For more information on breeds and drugs affected by the MDR1 mutation, visit www.wisdompanel.com/MDR1_Disease_Screening.
2. To understand your dog’s natural behavior tendencies and help with training.
3. Provide your dog with tailored nutrition.
4. To determine what the size of your dog might be.
5. Provides you to be proactive dog owner about any health concerns or common issues associated with the breeds found in your dog.
The Wisdom Panel 3.0 is an at home kit that allows you to better understand your pet and its needs. Testing your dog with Wisdom Panel® 3.0 starts with “cheek swabs” to collect a DNA sample from inside your dog’s cheek. Then, you send the swabs into the laboratory. Once your sample is received, it is scanned into the Wisdom Panel database and assigned to a batch for testing. Reports take approximately 2-3 weeks from the time a sample is received for analysis to be completed. The Mars Veterinary Wisdom Panel® 3.0 Canine DNA Test Kit includes:
  • Instructions
  • DNA cheek swabs – all for use on one dog
  • Drying insert for swabs
  • Pre-paid return shipping box
Visit www.WisdomPanel.com for more information and to purchase a kit.
Mars Veterinary Wisdom Panel will also be at the following events this year to share more information about Mars Veterinary Wisdom Panel® 3.0 and to educate on the benefits of Canine DNA testing:
June 4-7: GoPRO Mountain Games in Vail, CO – swabbing
August 1: Amazing Pet Expo in Austin, TX – swabbing
TBD October: Mars Pet Adoption Fair in Franklin, TN – swabbing
December 5: Amazing Pet Expo Holiday in Pomona, CA – swabbing
For all events that allow dogs, consumers can swab onsite at event for a discounted price of $39.99. For those wanting to take home a kit, they can be purchased for the discounted price of $49.99 (MSRP $84.99).
