How's your Christmas decorating coming along?
I know some of you don't even start until
December 1st.
You know I start as soon after
Thanksgiving dinner as I can!
One of my favorites to decorate
is the china cabinet.
I usually start at the top and work
my way down.
I didn't change it much from last year.
I like having my angels up above,
looking down and guarding us each day.
The only addition this year is
the red mercury glass tree between them.
My large red decorative plates
are like bright halos behind them.
For the shelves I chose to go more
formal on the top shelf
and a bit of fun for the bottom shelf.
Shiny green chargers sit behind my
very favorite Christmas plates from Kohl's.
If you remember from last year,
I could only find three of them, and
I haven't been able to find even just one more.
They are marked
St. Nicholas Square
Holiday Laurel.
If you every see any in your daily travels, let me know!
I would love to get one more to make a set.
In front are salad plates I found at
Goodwill a few years ago.
I paid .25 each for them and I actually got six of them!
They are marked
The Elegant Table
Redd & Barton
Holly Berry
I think I scored pretty well with that purchase!
The fun little polar bears are from The Dollar Tree.
They add a touch of whimsy to the otherwise
traditional dishes.
On the lower shelf I used a pair of
handpainted snowmen salad plates.
They were also found at Goodwill and cost a total of .50
In the center is a larger
snowman dish that I found thrifting.
I'm pretty sure I didn't pay more than a dollar for him.
A little girl skating by a minuture tree
sits in from of an icy glass snowman.
While on the opposite side,
a little boy skates in front of a
jolly pink cheeked Santa.
I'm very pleased with the china cabinet
decor this year.
Some things remained the same
while others changed, just like the seasons.
I want to remind you of the
holiday blog hop I am co-hosting with some

ReplyDeleteHey there, little lady! I'm just now getting to your blog for this week. I've been sick since the middle of last week with a stupid cold, and I just couldn't even muster up the strength to walk across the hall to my office! I'm not real fond of using my laptop, so...!!! :-) You are off to a grand start with the Christmas decorating!!! I really like seeing all the beautiful Christmas dishes in your cabinet. You lots from which to choose! I like to get my decorating started early, too, so mine is pretty much done for this season. Now it's time for us to just sit back and enjoy it all!
ReplyDeleteYour China cabinet looks great! I started on mine today. Took down the odd stuff I had let accumulate on the top. I filled on vase with my old shiny brites and now I've got to figure out what else I want up there. I like you angels!
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
Kathe - Yes, I would say your china cabinet is all ready for Christmas. It looks so pretty. I shop flea markets, thrift stores, estates regularly and will keep an eye out for your fourth setting.
