This year, for the Christmas holidays,
I resolved to take my time in setting
up our Christmas decor.
Instead of trying to get it all done
in a day, I spent two days.
Hey, it's a start right?
One of my first decorating tasks was the
top of the buffet in the dining room.
One of the first things to go up
is this Santa picture I purchased
several years ago from Kirkland's.
It's no secret that I L.O.V.E. Santa!
I have been known to shout "hello"
and wave to him at the mall.
Next, is the gilded reindeer
I purchased many years ago from the thrift store.
I may change his bow out this year.
My other favorite items are these three
small old world Santas that were
a gift from Mr. B's mother.
She knows how much I love Santa!
Each one is slightly different, making
them unique and loved by me.
This one sits next to a small
apothecary jar filled
with a few gold ornaments.
A small gold tree purchased from Pier 1
at the after Christmas sale last year
holds some small red ornaments...
except for one.
It is Mr. B's take on hiding a pickle on the tree.
It makes me smile when I see it peeking out.
I don't remember where the
gold mercury glass spires came from.
I'm sure it was an after Christmas sale
and I am sure I didn't pay much for them.
If you are a regular reader (you are right?)
you'll notice that I changed out the
lampshades for the season too.
The red is just perfect for the
colors I am using in the dining room this year.
I am so happy I kept it simple this year!
Even though I have a gazillion bins
full of Christmas decor,
I realize don't have to put
every.single.piece
out on display.
It allows me to change the
decor each year so that it is
always new to us.
I am soooo excited to let you know about
a holiday blog hop I am co-hosting with some
of my very favorite blog gals!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you look!
We want to celebrate the season and share Christmas cheer and are hosting a four week Christmas link party!
Don't forget to come by on Tuesday's

Beautiful! It is all so pretty, I especially the wee Santas. What a sweet gift.
ReplyDeleteLooking good lady! Yep- I love Mr. B's Pickle..oh wait that didn't sound good! ;) You know what I mean! Look at you ..getting your party on- LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Kathe! And your Mr. B sounds like my husband. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove it Kathe! I'm still looking at my boxes and hoping to get into them tomorrow! Thanks for the inspiration with your beautifully displayed decorations!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that is going to layer it on? If I'm going to do it, I go for it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really pretty, I let the kids decorate and mine is never pretty, it's one of the things i look forward to when they have grown up
ReplyDeleteI have those exact same reindeer; are your paiper mache? I've had mine forever; they've been spray painted and re-papered numerous times! Love your decorations!

I store mine in bins also and it makes getting it up really easy. I put on the Christmas music and am happy all day. I usually get it done in one day with a little leftover. I am like you, I like to decide each year what I am doing. That kind of drives hubby crazy (if I don't use it all, he wants to give it away!) I believe in enjoying the process too!
ReplyDeleteYour buffet is wonderful. The little Santa's are so sweet. Dianne
ReplyDeleteHello from Thursdays Favorite Things. I love the Gold Tree with the red ornaments. I would love to keep my decor simple this year but with a 5 and 6 year old I don't thinks it's going to happen :)
ReplyDeleteVery festive buffet, Kathe! I have the same deer in silver...I may use it as the centerpiece in a tablescape again this year.
ReplyDeleteIt's all so very pretty and classy...
ReplyDeleteYou must be a classy lady! :)
hugs x

Love the pretty santa picture! The buffet scape is so pretty. I, too, collect Santas.. love yours. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteKathe, what a pretty buffet and love the tree completed with the pickle. It took me a while to see it! LOL! So obvious, it took me a while. I'm with you on doing less until I get into panic mode..then I'll want more! I'm excited about the 4 weeks of parties. Sounds great! Santa's picture will be up soon...I promise!:)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas,
Helen
beautiful! I am sharing my decorating in tomorrows post. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things Blog hop xo
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like we have similar approaches. I don't get everything out either and enjoy the simplicity more than all the fuss. Not seeing everything every year makes it seems new again when it gets a chance to be part of the decor.
ReplyDeleteYour Santa picture is wonderful! It took me a long time to realize that I don't have to put up every single Christmas item we own on display. I have also begun rotating them, except for a few pieces that my family insists are too intrinsic a part of our holiday tradition to forgo. Your buffet looks so festive! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi, i really like your buffet christmas tree. Nice to meet you.

Everything looks wonderful Kathe! I'm with you, I LOVE santa! I collect the larger santas and have for years. The old guy just makes me smile! My mom has a beautiful pickle ornament that she hides on her Christmas tree each each and the first person to find it gets a specail present. Thank you for sharing at TTF this week and I hope you and yours have a fun weekend! Take care. Hugs, Diann :)
ReplyDeleteKathe your buffet looks great!! I love the Framed Santa!! Beautiful. I think it's so cute how you added one green bulb. Love it!

Love this - I am a big ol' Santa lover, too :) Partially because when I was a kid, my Dad played Santa @ his company's annual Christmas party & I was the only one under maybe 15 years old, who was in on the secret - and I loved my Dad!!! In fact, when he passed, in one of his obits, I had the headline read "played Santa" <3
ReplyDeleteFrom one Santa lover to another, "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas". You never grow too old for Santa. I'd sit on his knee any day. I had a nice Santa collection. I missed bringing that container here from our previous home. My youngest son found it (he bought our home)and asked if I wanted it. If not they would put them out. I have so much decor that I let them have my collection. It was fun to go down there and see how they displayed them. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup. Excited to join in on your party.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
