Mr. B & I love Mexican food! For my birthday when Mr. B asked me where
I wanted to go to dinner I only had one response, Guadalajara!
Our favorite Mexican restaurant. I loooove their chili rellanos and the tamales are to die for! I eat until I am painfully stuffed!
I also have the advantage in that Mr. B makes a mean homemade chili rellano too! Cheesy and made with fresh green chilis from our local farm garden center.
He wraps it all up into an egg roll and fries it up into crispy goodness. Then covers it with a green chili sauce. Oh my tummy is growling just thinking of it!
So, in honor of Cinco De Mayo, and in hopes Mr. B agrees to cooking dinner,
not so subtle hint there honey, I set up a festive tablescape.
I didn't use a tablecloth. I wanted the rustic dark wood of the table to be visible.
I used rustic woven placemats. I love the earthy colors of them. My orange square plates, found on clearance at JC Penney several years ago anchor another, more colorful striped square plate, also from JC Penney. In the center is placed a shot glass for the shot of tequila to get the evening started! Each one is a different color. And of course, margarita glasses for a slushy tasty beverage!
I used one of my favorite sets of flatware. The seemed perfectly sturdy and
fit the rustic theme.
The napkins were a Goodwill find last year. I paid $1.00 for four.
I found the cute little couple at Goodwill just last week. I paid more than I usually do because they were toooo cute. $2.99 each but, aren't they perfect?
Some rustic candlesticks with mottled orange candles, and a vase with river rocks and orange and white flowers, and a pair of little cactus candles from Bed Bath & Beyond complete the centerpiece.
All of the colors make for a such a fun and festive table to celebrate the 5th of May. Now I'm off to help Mr. B in the kitchen. He'll probably leave a mess but,
ohhh it will be so worth it once I cut into the oozing goodness of one of his
awesome rellanos!
And don't forget to stop by on Tuesday's
for the link party!
