You make lemontinis!
It has been such a week!
It has been such a week!
As you may know, if you read here,
my father has been ill and is in the hospital.
The good news is he is recovering very well.
Rumor has it, he is giving the staff a hard time.
Which means he is getting back to his old ornery self
and that makes me happy.
In the midst of the drama I decided to put together
a tablescape
to lift my spirits somewhat.
I wanted something bright and cheerful
so I used yellow as my theme.

Since I don't have a yellow tablecloth
I used a plain white tablecloth and
added yellow ribbon I purchased,
I used a plain white tablecloth and
added yellow ribbon I purchased,
using a coupon of course,
from Hobby Lobby.
I cut the ribbon to length and then
pinned it to each side of the table.
A simple silver charger, crisp white linen napkins,
our Gibson everyday dinnerware,
vintage silverplate flatware,
crystal goblets and
yellow sugar rimmed martini glasses
all highlighted by a
single yellow lemon.

A large chrome martini shaker,
borrowed from Mr. B,
holds a frosty adult beverage of
Lemontinis.
An apothecary jar
is centered between
two vintage crystal compotes,
all filled with cheery lemons.
A vintage crystal pitcher
is full of lemon slices and icy water.

Setting this table helped to lift my spirits
and to realize that, no matter
how stormy life may be some days,
we must look forward to the sunshine.
So pretty! My sister and I decorated for a wedding reception using lemons! It was so beautiful!!! ~ Barbara
ReplyDeleteI never thought about using ribbon for a table decoration. Brilliant. I love lemon stuff also and actually have two adorable lemon pillows that I use in my family room during the summer.

ReplyDeleteHi Kathe!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear your father is doing better. Robin and I just got back from NJ for our dad's 90th birthday. What a pretty table you created. I would agree that yellow is very cheerful, and I love your use of ribbon and lemons. I've never had a lemontini, but I may have to change that!

ReplyDeletegood luck with you dad!
What a lovely sight on a cold wintery day! Hope your Dad continues to recover well.
ReplyDeleteThe lemon yellow ribbons are better than a yellow tablecloth for it's more dramatic. The whole idea of the lemons is refreshing. Great tablescape! Tell your Dad to get better and we are praying for him and you both for an easy recovery. Happy Tablescaping! Pam
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...lemons always add just the right bit of color to make me smile.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Since you saw mine already, you know that I'm in the yellow theme this year, and I'm all about lemons right now. I love the idea of the ribbon across the white tablecloth. I can't tell you how many times I wished that I had just a little color in a tablecloth. Perfect solution.
ReplyDeleteThe gray was the perfect accent, and I love the yellow rimmed martini glasses. I noticed that we also have the same set of stemware. I think we're soul sisters or something. Therefore, I'm following you to see what you're doing next.

I'm glad to hear your Dad is recovering and showig signs of being back to his former frisky self! It's hard to see a parent in pain, and I know you and your family are thrilled to see him thriving again! This is the perfect table to help YOU thrive again and shake off the scare and dread associated with your Dad's surgery. Bright, cheery yellow is the answer every time! And the lemontinis ain't bad, either! :-) I hope your Dad continues to make great strides toward recovery. Take care, and have a good weekend!
