Guest Bedroom - A Work In Progress

Guest Bedroom - A Work In Progress
As you can see from the new look of the blog, some changes have taken place. I love the new look and again have to thank Brooke from

Brooke was the one that did my blog redesign last year too.
I love how easy she is to work with and how she just "gets" me and what I want! If you are thinking of updating your blog, give Brooke a shout
and tell I sent you!

In keeping with the new looks theme, I believe I have mentioned somewhere in the past that the previous owners of our new home had several little girls? And that they had decided to paint their bedroom a very very pink pink? In high gloss paint?  Well, If I haven't before, yes, all of that is true.

These photos don't even begin to show just how bright of pink this room was.

And shiny bright pink.

What you don't see are all of the princess, butterfly and other stickers little girls love, all over the walls.
Suffice it to say, we kept the door to this room shut at all times!

A few weekends ago, I was lounging on the couch and I heard something going on in the back of the house. I got up and and found Mr. B with a can of primer and a brush in his hand.  He'd had enough and could take no more of this assault on our sense of sight.

He had already begun the tedious task of cutting in when I found him.

In no time at all he had all of the walls primed and ready for paint.
He could have left it like this and it truly would look so much better than before.

We had already discussed that when the time came that we painted this room we would use the color that is in the rest of the house.  The previous home owners had left a tiny bit left in a can in the basement so we went to Home Depot and the fine folks there were about to get a darn near perfect match for us.

By the end of the weekend, he had two coats up and it looks beautiful!

I got the some pictures and other pieces up on the wall to help add to the warmth the room now has.

And, I am on the lookout at the thrift stores, garage sales and Craigslist for a dresser to go on this wall.  A mirror would be a nice find too as well as some beside tables. Just like everything else,
the guest bedroom is a work in progress.

My goal is to make the room a restful place for weary guests to lay their heads and be able to enjoy there visit with us.

  13. The little girls no doubt loved that watermelon pink, but I do think you made a great choice with that soft warm yellow. I love yellow! I can't wait to see how you pull it all together.

  19. This is really a good going. The saffron shade is really awesome. A little bit lighting to same will add some good value to it and I am sure will enhance the decor stuff.

  20. We used to have a pink room like that. We called it PANK! Your new rooms looks great. Take care - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com

  21. I was going to say the same as Dawn - we call this color PANK - maybe it is just a South Carolina thing. It is so much more restful now.

  22. Oh this looks very nice and I was chuckling since this brought back a memory. When I was 13 years old I was allowed to decorate and paint the little bedroom in our ranch house any way that I desired. My ACCENTS ( Trim ) were pink, the walls were lime green and there were pink and yellow peace stickers adhered to the walls. So it could be worse! :)

  24. I would say that's a big improvement. My downstairs guest room is a medium to dark green - including the ceiling. It had been freshly done 7 years ago when we bought the house. It only recently started to bother me, when I started to think about how much larger the room would look with lighter walls and a white ceiling. But I know my husband is never going to go in there and start painting without a push from me! He does a LOT, but painting is not his favorite.

  32. Oh my I know what you mean. We moved into our house with an all pink room, they even did the ceiling. Unlike your room ours had to be repainted right away. You see that room was my sons, and neither of us wanted a pink room for a male, bye bye pink,

Thanks for sharing at Tuesdays With a Twist, join us again tomorrow morning.

  35. Amazing what a little paint can do. I have girls and had a light pink on the wall and even that was too much I painted over it.
